Griffin Scott
The Hero, blonde and handsome, he has nerdy interests, reads books and sees a lot of films, but he can hold his own. He is big for his age of 12 and has the brains to match. Rolled up white t-shirts, blue jeans a little too short as he just had a 3 inch growth spurt. Black Chuck Taylors clad and a ducktail haircut. A signature White tuft of hair falls across his forehead. Weapons: Flashlight and baseball bat (wood)
Weston Wainright
The loyal friend, aged 12, also from Los Feliz, he is small for his age but had a good heart. He wears horn-rimmed tortoise shell glasses. His family is a wealthy pioneering family, coming from the Robber Baron age, railroads and such, but his mother is Armenian. They are big figures in the movie business and live in a Spanish mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Weston looks like a young Sal Mineo. Always carrying books and keeps a magnifying glass in his front pants pocket. He wears a white button-down oxford shirt, blazer with patches on the sleeves, totally East Coast, down to his loafers and private School crest, but here he is in Hot SoCal. He wears his shirt tails out. Weapons: Magnifying glass and his book strap used as a lariat.
Cat Mendoza
The Fighter, she is 13 going on 18. From Tropico, totally Goth before she knew it, good with knives, martial arts and a new art form, Graffitti. Griffin’s new crush, she he is Filipina, A mix of Chinese and Spanish, a growing population in Glendale after the war. A Southside and “Across the River” girl with wild black hair, always dressed in black and always wearing a crucifix around her neck. Wore tight dungarees rolled at the cuffs, An Iconic Cat on her v-neck crop top and fingerless black gloves, she knew the LA River and all its pipe feeds, as she often painted murals inside the round tunnels.
Weapons: a huge leather belt with a buckle that looked like brass knuckles, because they were. Double knife holsters (sheaths) with dual short skinner knives adorn her rear end. Spray paint can in hand. Catholic School girl by day, hipcat by night.
Desiree Ellsworth
The Keeper, Wheelchair bound, a Steampunk contraption. Desiree comes from another age. An aging starlet, Desiree was the stand-in for Glinda, the good witch and later became a radio star, where she amassed her fortune. She still wears a tiara. She is elegant with fading beauty and a wrinkled furrow. Hair perfectly coiffed, though completely Red and wavy. Residing in the Ellsworth estate, a hillside eclectic Victorian refuge is also home to Gideon. Desiree is the Keeper of the Flying monkeys, survivors of the film production of Wizard of Oz. She is a widow and worried about the future of her monkey kingdom.
Gideon
The New Friend, An older winged Ape with brooding features, but a kind smile. His face has whiskers and age spots showing he is older, maybe around 40, but well groomed. One of the original flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz, he leads a loyal group that follow Desiree Ellsworth, their keeper. His former friend and now rival is the Professor. Gideon’s wings are still in good shape, but his demeanor is kind and nurturing with an outstretched hand. He does wear clothes, looking like a butler. He does NOT wear glasses.
Detective Scott
Griffin’s father, Edward Scott, a Glendale Police Detective, a hero to his son but downtrodden at work. He wears the obligatory trench coat and black Fedora. Two shoulder holsters hold his police issued matching 38 calibers. Athletic, Dishwater blond, square-jawed and proud of his Blue skinny necktie and tie clasp. Short sleeved, white collar shirt. At 6 Feet, he has a commanding presence but a big heart. His famous pose is both guns drawn.
The Professor
The Renegade, a villain, more disheveled and a striking beard, white on one side, jet black on the other. Smart and ruthless, he is older and larger than Gideon. Leader of the Renegade flying monkeys, starving and living in the caves above Hollywood, he wears a hand tooled leather armor uniform. He wears one golden earring in his right ear. He is missing his right fang which creates a crooked smirk. His wings are still magnificent, but his left wing is missing and replaced with a tin metal replacement. The steampunk type contraption fully works, collapsing and expanding with the grace of his right wing. The steel feathers can be deadly blades.
